Since 1993, instead of gangs, instead of dropping out, instead of
hopelessness many students chose MentorPower (formerly EnvironMentors),
a place of academic achievement, acceptance and inspiration.
Each student joins for a
different reason. Some do come from healthy families but need the
assistance that only a mentor can offer. Many others have histories
strewn with obstacles and neglect. They join to find hope and a way to
overcome. MentorPower is here for each of them.
I am proud of MentorPower’s
individualized approach to young people. It takes significant amounts
of time and love when you say yes to working with adolescents in need.
Thousands of additional hours have been given to our MentorPower
students by staff and volunteers through the Bambe Cross College
Program. We add scientific field trips, the search for internships and
jobs to the services we offer our MP students...
Our mission: To increase the
participation of underserved high school students in science and
environmental studies through one to one mentoring succeeds because of
the dedication and passion of the mentors, volunteers and our staff of
three.
I invite you to become part of
this challenging, life giving program through volunteering your time,
talent and/or treasure. We need all three in abundance.
Affectionately,
Maureen
J. Quinn
